For The Lady Cans Robotics Team, an all-girls robotics team, the first step to success is making a bow tie out of Duck Tape. Each year, the team makes thousands of the ties to hand out at competitions. Their teachers say the simple act of handing out a Duck Tape bow tie breaks the ice of interacting with strangers and helps build the girls’ confidence. When they see a stranger wearing their bow tie, they feel more comfortable approaching them. The ties have been handed out to politicians, police officers, firefighters, astronauts and CEOs.
